LAKEWOOD, NJ- The Georgian Court University tennis squad cruised past visiting Post University, 9-0, Friday afternoon at the Ellen Mullane Gallagher Tennis Center, improving their record to 3-7 (3-4 CACC).

GCU opened the match with a perfect showing in doubles play. The No.1 tandem of Melissa Dennis and Maria Leal coasted to an 8-0 win over Post's Daysy Chin and Pamela Ifill. Victoria Gaffney and Nicole Way# followed suit with an 8-0 blanking over Lauren Gelati and Leah Grabowski, as did No. 3 duo Samantha Hanson and Heather Jensen (8-0 vs. Tiffany Hicks and Maxcine Swaby).


In singles play, Leal dropped Post's Ifill, 6-2, 6-0. Gaffney (vs. Chin), Dennis (vs. Grabowksi), Way (vs. Swaby), Jensen (vs. Hicks) and Hanson (vs. Gelati) each provided 6-0, 6-0 victories. For Gaffney and Hanson, the win marked the first singles triumph for each this season.

With the loss, the Eagles fall to 0-8 (0-6 CACC).


Georgian Court returns to action Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. as they host Molloy College in non-conference play.
