Syracuse, N.Y. –In their first visit to Le Moyne College since the memorable 2009 NCAA Suoer Regionals,the Georgian Court softball team was swept on Friday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The Dolphins won the opener, 7-1, and registered a 7-3 victory in the nightcap.</p>
<p>
Georgian Court got on the scoreboard first in the opener with a run on two hits in the first inning. Center fielder
Dara Schroeder led off with a bunt single in front of the plate and then stole second base. After moving to third on a sacrifice bunt, Schroeder scored on a single to right field by second baseman
Rachel Ruch.</p>
<p>
Le Moyne evened the score with a run on two hits in the bottom of the second inning. Junior right fielder Demetra Kermidas (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) singled up the middle to lead off the frame and moved to second on a bunt single by senior left fielder Kristin Brown (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley). After Kermidas was retired at home on a fielder's choice, Brown scored on a ground out by senior third baseman Kelcie Cashel (Lacona, N.Y./Sandy Creek).</p>

The Dolphins took the lead with a run on one hit and a Georgian Court error in the third inning. Junior designated player Fran Kiernan (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) walked on five pitches to open the inning and was replaced at first by pinch-runner Hannah Gatley (New Port Richey, Fla./J.W. Mitchell). Following a sac bunt and a pop out, Kermidas singled to left field to drive in Gatley.</p>

Le Moyne blew the game open with four runs on five hits and a Georgian Court error in the fourth inning. Senior first baseman Leah Ford (Pulaski, N.Y./Pulaski) led off with a double to left center and came around to score on a single to left center by Cashel. After Shea walked and moved to second as Cashel was caught stealing, senior catcher Morgan Edmondson (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City) singled to left field to push Shea to third. Kiernan then singled to left to plate Shea. Sophomore pitcher Sarah Harrison (Cobleskill, N.Y./Cobleskill-Richmondville) followed by reaching on an error by the pitcher to load the bases. Freshman second baseman Kristie Capuano (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) then singled up the middle to drive in Edmondson and force a Georgian Court pitching change. Following an out at the plate, Brown reached on a fielder's choice to drive in pinch-runner Erin Batson (Poland, N.Y./Poland).</p>

The Dolphins added a run on two hits in the fifth inning. Ford singled up the middle to lead off the frame and went to third on a single by Cashel. Two batters later, Ford scored on a ground out by Edmondson.</p>
<p>
Harrison picked up the win after striking out seven batters, while yielding just the one run on five hits over seven innings in the circle. Cashel, Edmondson and Kermidas each had two of Le Moyne's 12 hits.
Brooke Hull took the loss after giving up six runs (four earned) on 10 hits over three and one-third innings pitched.</p>

In the nightcap, the Dolphins struck first with a run on two hits in the bottom of the first inning. With Edmondson at second after reaching on a fielder's choice, Kiernan singled down the left field line to drive in Edmondson.</p>

The Lions knotted the score at one apiece in the top of the season as third baseman
Kelsey Cutler blasted a lead-off home run to left field.</p>

Le Moyne answered in the bottom of the second with three runs on three hits and a Georgian Court error. With two outs and Kermidas on second after reaching on a fielder's choice, Ford smacked a home run to right center for a 3-1 lead. Cashel followed with a single down the left field line, stole second and came around to score on a double to right center by Shea.</p>

The Dolphins tacked on three runs on two hits in the fourth inning. Ford walked with one out and moved all the way to third on a sac bunt by Cashel. Following a walk by Shea, Edmondson singled to center to drive in Ford. After a walk by Kiernan to load the bases, sophomore pitcher Vanessa Utley (Monroe, Ga./Homeschooled) doubled down the left field line to plate Shea and Edmondson.</p>
<p>
Georgian Court scored twice in the sixth inning on one hit. Ruch walked with one out and scored on a home run to left field by Hull.</p>
<p>
Utley registered her first victory of the year after tossing five and one-third innings, while striking out two and yielding three runs on four hits. Shea finished the game with three of the nine hits by the Dolphins.
Illiana Teran took the loss after giving up seven runs (four earned) on nine hits over six innings.</p>
