Dara Schroeder
LAKEWOOD, NJ- Senior Rachel Ruch hit for the cycle for the second time in her illustrious collegiate career and freshman dynamo Dara Schroeder went 6-for-7 with six stolen bases as the Georgian Court University softball squad coasted to a 8-0, 9-1 sweep of CACC foe Felician College Tuesday afternoon.

GAME ONE
GCU (18-15, 5-4 CACC) dismissed the Golden Falcons in six innings in the opening contest. Ruch, who last hit for the cycle in a 17-9 defeat of Post University in the 2010 CACC Tournament (5/6/10),  ripped a double down the left-field line in the first inning, followed by a two-run homer (her first of the year) to right-center, a two-run triple to right in the fourth and a walk-off, two-run single to left in the sixth.

Schroeder went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two swipes, and a RBI in the opener atop the Georgian Court line-up. 3B Kelsey Cutler (2-for-3) launched her first of two dingers on the day with a solo shot to left-center in the second inning, her fourth of the year. SS Ashlynn Thompson also went 2-for-3, which included her eighth double of the year and a run scored.

Brooke Hull (13-9) went the distance in the circle for the Lions, scattering six Felician hits while striking out one in the shutout.  Junior Kristen Tenwolde (Ramona, CA) suffered the defeat for the Golden Falcons (4.0 IP, 9 H, 6 ER, 6 ER, BB, 3 K), falling to 3-13 on the year.

GAME TWO

It was more of the same in the nightcap for the Lions as they rapped 11 more hits, including five of the extra-base variety, in what turned out to be a five-inning affair.

Schroeder presented a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs in the lead-off spot, while snaring a season-high four steals. Her 29 stolen bases leads all of the CACC and leaves her just eight steals short of tying the conference single-season record.

Cutler again went 2-for-3 with two runs scored at the dish, which included a two-run long ball in the second inning, giving her a team-leading five on the season. Hull also went yard as she clubbed her fourth of the year, a solo shot, in the first inning.

RF Selina Santillo collected a double and triple in a 2-for-2 effort to go along with a run and RBI. Ruch registered her seventh RBI of the afternoon with a second-inning double. She also filed away two steals. 1B Jen Tartaglia (1-for-3, 2 RBI) ended the contest with a ribbie single in the bottom of the fifth.

Hull improved to 14-9 in three innings of work, permitting three hits and a walk. She also struck out two batters. Felician starter Macy Chase (Fr.-Sacramento, CA) fell to 0-5 (1.1 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 4 ER, 3 BB).

Felican drops to 4-25 on the year and 2-7 in the CACC.

Georgian Court returns to the diamond Thursday afternoon when they host a CACC twin-bill vs. Goldey-Beacom College at 3:00 PM.
