LAKEWOOD, NJ- The Georgian Court University tennis squad secured its first victory of the 2012 campaign Saturday afternoon with a 5-4 home decision over CACC rival University of the Sciences (1-3, 1-3 CACC) in the Ellen Mullane Gallagher Tennis Center. After cruising to a 3-0 lead with a clean sweep in doubles action, the Lions (1-3, 1-1 CACC) dropped four of six singles matches, but still hanged on for the 'W'.
In the aforementioned doubles contests, the GCU tandems of
Melissa Dennis and Maria Leal (9-7),
Victoria Gaffney and
Nicole Way (8-3), and
Samantha Hanson and
Heather Jensen (8-1) earned the Lions a crucial three points heading into singles play.
Jensen held a 6-3, 4-3 advantage over the Devils'
Michelle Adamczyk (Bensalem, PA) in #5 singles play before the University of the Sciences senior was forced to retire after suffering a quadriceps injury, securing Jensen her first singles point of the year.

Melissa White (So.-Mullica Hill, NJ).
The Lions return to action this Wednesday afternoon with a CACC match at Philadelphia University. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
