LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Led by junior Rocio Cabanillas Moreno (Sevilla, Spain), the Goldey-Beacom College women's tennis team (7-1, 5-0) extended its win streak to three consecutive matches by posting a 9-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Georgian Court University (2-5, 2-3) at the Gallagher Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon.
It marked the fifth time this season that the Lightning have not lost a match against an opponent.
After teaming with sophomore Filipa Correia (Lisboa, Portugal) to post an 8-0 victory at number two doubles, Cabanillas Moreno earned a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at number two singles over senior Victoria Gaffney. Meanwhile, Correia earned a 6-2, 6-0 verdict over sophomore Nicole Way.
Sophomore Stephanie Puentes Robinson (Bogota, Colombia) also earned a pair of victories against the Lions. She posted an 8-0 victory at number one doubles with sophomore Anastasia Melnikova (Vladivostok, Russia) before adding a 6-0, 6-2 decision at number one singles. Melnikova also posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number six singles against senior Vanessa Flores.
Senior Blanca Sancho (Zaragoza, Spain) recorded a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number three singles in addition to an 8-0 win at number three doubles with senior Vanessa Leon (Caracas, Venezuela).
In addition, senior Melanie Bonomo (Maracay, Venezuela) earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number five singles over junior Heather Jensen.
