Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's soccer squad remained unblemished in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play this season (6-0-1), as the Lions dismantled Concordia College, 7-0, in Saturday's Homecoming Day contest at GCU.
Seven different Lions tallied scores in the victory as GCU (7-2-1 overall) secured its sixth shutout triumph of the year. The Clippers dip to 0-5 (0-5 CACC) on the campaign.
Katie Vecchio netted her first goal of the season at 4:20 when she controlled and one-timed a
Taylor Reinecke corner kick. Less than three minutes later (7:09),
Morgan Peacock headed home another Reinecke corner kick to make the score 2-0.
Megan Sherman closed the first-stanza scoring with her first of the season, a screamer into the upper right of the Concordia net at 37:00.
Coming out of the intermission up 3-0,
Nicole Petrosino (50:26),
Tayler Bramley (57:06),
Kerry Ann Strohmeier (71:09) and
Tuere Chisholm-Thomas (74:49) provided the second half scores.
Kaitlyn Hartkopf contributed two assists on the day.Â
Carleigh Gorman and Chisholm-Thomas also set up GCU goals.
Casey O'Connor and
Tianna Worden each played a half in net for the Lions to share the shutout. O'Connor did not face a shot in her 45 minutes of action while Worden stopped both shots she saw in relief duty.
The Lions outshot Concordia, 29-2, and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
GCU will next play this Wednesday when they host LIU-Post in a non-conference contest commencing at 3:30 p.m.
