Two Barinas Bombs Highlight Saturday Sweep of Nyack College

Anabelle Barinas
Lakewood, N.J.- Coming into the day without a hit in her collegiate career (0-for-2), Anabelle Barinas and her bat introuduced themselves loud and clear Saturday afternoon as the Georgian Court University sophomore blasted a home run in both games of the Lions' CACC twin-bill vs. Nyack College with GCU defeating the Warriors by scores of 6-1 and 7-1.

Game One

Georgian Court (10-16, 4-2 CACC) never trailed in the first contest as the Lions coasted to the 6-1 decision. The Lions took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second after a RBI single to right by RF Vanessa Flores. Nyack answered with its lone run in the top of the third, courtesy of a GCU passed ball, which made it 1-1 on the scoreboard.

GCU responded with a pair in the bottom half of the frame after a two-run single to right from C Meghan Sfraga. With a 3-1 lead, the Lions added two more tallies in the home half of the fifth inning after an RBI triple by SS Briana Molino and another ribbie from Sfraga on a groundout to first base.

Barinas's blast to centerfield leading off the sixth inning solidified the Lions ninth victory of the season.

After Nyack (4-9, 0-8 CACC) plated its lone run in the top of the fourth on a Macaluso single, GCU brought in three more runs in the bottom of the frame, courtesy of a Nyack unearned run, a Molino RBI single and another Sfraga ribbie knock through the right side.
