Shippenburg, Pa.- The Georgian Court University women's tennis squad snared its first victory of the spring season with a 7-2 triumph at Shippensburg University Tuesday afternoon. The Lions improve to 4-12 overall in 2012-13 as the Raiders dip to 1-12 with the defeat.
The Lions opened the contest with a 3-0 sweep in doubles action. The combo of
Melissa Dennis and Maria Leal defeated the Shippensburg tandem of
Brittnee Buckley and
Julie Saintz, 8-0.
Victoria Gaffney and #Meredith Hoffman# followed with an 8-3 triumph over
Daniela Delgado and
Hannah Wolfe. GCU's
Maria Antimisiaris and
Samantha Hanson completed the Lions' trifecta with an 8-0 blanking of
Kaitlyn Erickson and
Kayla Strohl.
In singles play, Leal (6-2, 6-4); Gaffney (6-2, 6-1); Dennis (6-2, 6-4) and Hoffman (6-1, 6-1) took home straight-set victories for Georgian Court.
