Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University softball squad picked up a key Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader sweep Tuesday afternoon as the Lions dropped the University of the Sciences, 6-4 and 2-1 (8 innings), while also snapping the Devils' five-game winning streak.
GCU improves to 13-17 (7-3 CACC) while USciences drop to 12-10 (8-4 CACC).
The Lions and Devils matched zeros for the first three-and-half innings before the home team took a commanding 5-0 advantage in the bottom of the fourth. 2B
Justine Mattia drove in the initial run with a double to left field. 1B
Taylor McDonough then provided a two-run single to center. Designated player
Senna Francesconi (single to right) and LF
Alyssa Paradiso (infield single) provided the inning's additional ribbies.

Sfraga added a run-scoring double in the fifth to give the Lions a commanding 6-0 advantage.

The Devils snapped the shutout in the top of the sixth with a pair of runs, courtesy of a two-run single from C
Katie Dickson (Fr.-Swedesboro, N.J.). USciences made things even more interesting in the top of the seventh after a
Steph Fultano (Fr.-Collingswood, N.J.) sacfrice fly and and
Devon DeBellis (So.-Marlton, N.J.) single brought in two more runs for the Devils.

	Kristina Morgan (5-6) held on for the Lions to earn the complete-game victory (7.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 2 ER, BB, 5 K).
Cassie Lapotsky (Fr.-Ashland, Pa.) suffered the defeat for USciences (3.2 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 1 K).

	Mattia (2-for-3, 2B, R, RBI) and SS
Briana Molino (2-for-3, 2 R) each rapped two hits while Molino swiped a stolen base in the effort.

GAME TWO

Georgian Court kicked off the scoring in the nightcap when a
Vanessa Flores single gave the Lions a 1-0 advantage in the home-half of the second. The Devils countered with a tally in the top of the third after a RBI infield hit by Dickson.

	Starting pitchers
Illiana Teran (6.2 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) and
Courtney Spina (Sr.-Thornton, Pa.) traded zeros for the remainder of regulation as the two squads would need extra frames to determine the victor.

After the Devils went down in order in the top of the eighth, 3B
Ashlynn Thompson reached base on a USciences one-out error. She then advanced on an
Alyssa Paradiso groundout before CF Dara Schroder brought her in with a game-winning single.

Deanna Daluise (5-6) earned the win for the Lions with 1.1 innings of perfect relief, which included three strikeouts. Spina took the tough-luck defeat for the Devils (7.2 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 K).

Schroeder enjoyed a 2-for-4 effort at the dish. McDonough scorched her first triple of the season in the contest.

GCU returns to play Wednesday afternoon when they host a non-conference twin-bill vs. Kutztown University. Start time is 2:30 p.m.
