Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's soccer club improved to a perfect 5-0-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play (5-1-1 overall) Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 shutout of Felician College on Investors Savings Bank Field.
Goalkeeper Casey O'Connor collected six saves on 12 Felician College shots, earning a shutout in all five GCU victories this season. O'Connor and the Lions have not permitted a goal since a first-half tally at Queens College on September 15 (429:44).
Taylor Mize opened the scoring at 22:52 when the junior transfer controlled a
Kaitlyn Hartkopf pass that dropped behind the Golden Falcons' defense and popped in her third score of the season.
Taylor Reinecke added the second goal of the stanza at 30:51 when she settled and one-timed an
Elizabeth Lawler corner kick. The effort also marked Reinecke's third goal on the year.
The Lions held a slim 13-12 advantage in the shot column and a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Julia Sheridan (So.-Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) collected six saves as Felician dipped to 1-5-2 (0-2-2 CACC).
GCU heads north on Wednesday for a contest vs. the nationally-ranked (#20) University of Bridgeport. Start time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
