Lakewood, N.J.- Playing without reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Co-Rookie of the Week
Keith Hughes, the Georgian Court University men's basketball squad could not muster the necessary offensive arsenal to match visiting Holy Family University as the Tigers cruised to an 88-57 victory Tuesday evening in the GCU Wellness Center.
Hughes, who is tied for eighth in the conference with 15.1 points-per-game and had started every game for the Lions up to this point, missed Tuesday's outing as he mourns his father,
Keith Sr., after the elder's sudden passing Saturday.
The Tigers (17-8, 11-5 CACC) owned the lead from start to finish. Holy Family's 22-point advantage of 49-27 was the visiting team's highwater mark in the first stanza. That surplus would increase to a game-high 38 points on two separate occasions in the second half with the latter coming with 9:52 remaining after a
Xavier Williams (Jr.-Philadelphia, Pa.) three-pointer put the score at 79-41 guests.
Five members of the Tigers' squad eclipsed double digits in the scoring column led by
Hunter Wysocki's (So.-Colts Neck, N.J.) 19 points.
Derrick Stewart (So.-Philadelphia, Pa.) contributed a double-double with his 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Alberto Munoz (Sr.-Morrisville, N.C.) also compiled 14 points while
Khiry Hankins (Gr.-Cincinnati, Ohio) and
Ervin Ezell (Sr.-Deptford, N.J.) popped in 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Jordan Wejnert knocked home a team-best 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Lions.
Luka Zgonjanin netted a season-high nine points and six boards in the effort.
The Lions return to the court Friday night at 8:00 p.m. with a CACC showdown at Bloomfield College.
