Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University softball team remains perfect (4-0) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play as the Lions made quick work of visiting Chestnut Hill College Thursday afternoon, topping the Griffins 13-4 and 10-2 in five and six innings, respectively.

With the sweep, GCU improves to 10-11 on the season while Chestnut Hill falls to 1-13 (1-5 CACC).

GAME ONE

The opening contest started inauspiciously for the Lions as the Griffins plated three runs in the top of the first inning, courtesy of a lead-off home run by LF Nicole Carney (So.-Ontario, Calif.) and a two-run shot by 3B Emily Soller (So.-Bel Air, Md.). GCU cut the deficit to 3-2 with sacrifice flies off the bats of 1B Emma Erbig (1st inning) and SS Briana Molino (3rd inning).

Chestnut Hill increased its lead to 4-2 in the top of the fourth on the game's third sac fly of the game, this time by CF Ashleigh Sharp (Fr.-Dresher, Pa.). The Georgian Court lineup unleashed the fury in the bottom half of the frame as the Lions sent 15 batters to the plate, scoring 11 runs on nine hits and four miscues by the Griffins. Highlighting the scoring outburst was a mighty grand slam to left by Erbig, her first long ball of the year.

Deanna Daluise improved to 5-6 in the circle for GCU, yielding four runs (4 ER) on seven hits and three walks in five innings of work. The senior also struck out four. Briannen Holloway Fr.-Corona, Calif.) suffered the loss, permitting 12 runs (6 ER) on 10 hits and three walks (5 K) in 3.1 innings of action.

Erbig (1-for-2) finished the contest with a game-high five RBI. CF Dara Schroeder contributed a 3-for-4 effort (2 R) while LF Taylor Boltersdorf (2-for-3, 2 R, 3 RBI), Molino (2-for-3) and 3B Taylor McDonough (2-for-2) enjoyed multi-hit outings.

GAME TWO

GCU jumped out to a 2-0, first-inning lead after Schroeder stole home on the front end of a double steal and McDonough slammed a ribbie triple to right. The Griffins got on the board in the top of the second after a solo home run from 1B Giana Cavallo (Sr.-Turnersville, N.J.) and tied the game at 2-2 after a ribbie double by Sharp in the top of the third.

The Lions immediately regained the advantage in the home half of the third after Molino blasted her third long ball of the year, a two-run shot. GCU went on to add three insurance runs in both the fifth and sixth frames to secure the 10-2 triumph.

Abby Merryman (2-3) won her second game of the year, allowing two runs (1 ER) on just three hits (2 K) over 4.1 innings. Tina Morgan pitched 1.2 innings of one-hit relief to earn her first save. Courtney Dayter (So.-Cohoes, N.Y.) yielded 10 runs (9 ER) on 13 hits and three walks (5.2 IP) in the CHC loss.
