Orangeburg, N.Y.- The Georgian Court University softball squad cruised past Nyack College, 20-1 and 12-3, Friday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action. The Lions now set their sights on Sunday when GCU hosts first-place Caldwell College in the regular season finale for both as each team prepares for next week's 2014 CACC Softball Championship Tournament, commencing Thursday in Lakewood.
With the victories, GCU improves to 26-19 (18-6 CACC) while the host-Warriors tumble to 3-35 on the year (3-23 CACC).
GAME ONEGCU plated an initial run in the first inning, four in the second, seven in the third, and a whopping eight in the fifth as the Lions posted a season-high 20 runs and 21 hits in the five-inning blowout.
Four players contributed three-hit efforts for Georgian Court, including: RF

Taylor McDonough (2-for-3, 5 RBI) slugged her team-leading 10th long ball, a three-run shot in the seven-run third frame. C
Meghan Sfraga (2-for-5, 2 R) also tallied multiple knocks.
Tina Morgan improved to 7-4 for the Lions in the circle, permitting a lone run (1 ER) on five hits and a walk (4 K) in the five-inning outing. Nyack's
Kim Yano (So.-Blauvelt, N.Y.) suffered the loss, yielding nine runs (9 ER) on nine hits and four bases-on-balls in the 2.1-inning starting effort.
GAME TWOThe Warriors scored a run in each of the first two innings, owning a 2-0 lead for three frames. The Lions tied the nightcap at 2-all in the top of the fourth on a two-run dinger from Sfraga, her fourth of the year. Nyack regained the advantage at 3-2 in the home half of the frame, courtesy of an RBI from DP Yano.
GCU finally took matters into their own hands, scoring three in the fifth, one in the sixth, and six more in the seventh en route to the convincing road victory. Six Lions enjoyed two hits apiece at the dish, including: CF
Dara Schroeder (2-for-5, R); Paradiso (2-for-4, R, RBI); Molino (2-for-5, 2 R, RBI); McDonough (2-for-5, R, 4 RBI); Erbig (2-for-5, R, RBI) and Sfraga (2-for-3, 2 R, 3 RBI).
McDonough blasted her second dinger of the day in the seventh inning, a three-run shot. The senior's 11 long balls are the most in season by a GCU slugger since
Kelsey Cutler launched 11 during the 2010 campaign.
Deanna Daluise secured her team-best 11th victory (11-9), allowing three runs (3 ER) on five hits and three walks (4 K) in seven innings.
Tori Flemming (So.-Plano, Texas) went the distance for Nyack (12 R, 12 ER, 15 H, 5 BB, 3 K).
The Lions will now host the Cougars at 12:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
