Garden City, N.Y.- The Georgian Court University softball team lived to see another game Saturday afternoon as the Lions eliminated No. 3 Adelphi University, 9-2. The Lions advance to take on No. 6 Queens College, which lost to No. 2 Caldwell College, 5-2, earlier in the day.
GCU (32-23) will take on the Knights for the fourth time this season. The Lions defeated Queens, 9-0, in five innings back on March 6 in Clermont, Fla. before being swept by the the East Coast Conference foe, 14-12 (9 innings) and 9-0, in a non-conference twin-bill on March 14 at Georgian Court.
Adelphi (27-20) jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first frame after an RBI double off the center-field wall by DP
Katie Andrews (Sr.-Dothan, Ala.), followed by a run-inducing fielding error by the Lions.
The Lions immediately responded in the bottom of the stanza with a three runs to take the lead for good. CF

Brianna Molino (Sr.- Williamstown, N.J.) each reached with a bunt single to start the inning. Schroeder stole second base and advanced to third on Paradiso's knock before coming in to score on Molino's effort. 2B
Justine Mattia (Sr.-Williamstown, N.J.) proceeded to smack a two-out, two-run double to right-center, plating Paradiso and Molino.
GCU increased the advantage to 4-2 in the second, courtesy of a ribbie groundout by Paradiso. The Lions broke it open with three runs in the fifth and two more in the six to secure their first triumph in the NCAA Regionals since defeating Caldwell, 2-1, back on May 15, 2010.
Tina Morgan (Sr.-Audobon, N.J.) (8-6) dazzled in the circle for GCU, allowing two runs (1 ER) on eight hits (2 K) in the complete-game effort.
Lindsay Mapes (Fr.-Mount Vernon, Ohio) suffered the Adelphi defeat, permitting four runs (4 ER) on six hits (3 K) over four innings of work.
Mattia completed the outing going 2-for-4 with four RBI. Schroeder (3-for-4, 2 R), Paradiso (3-for-4, 2 R), and Molino (3-for-4, 2 R, 3 RBI) enjoyed three-hit efforts. LF
