Garden City, N.Y.- The Georgian Court University softball squad continues to prove its worth as the Lions edged #6 Queens College, 5-4, Sunday afternoon to advance to the NCAA East 2 Region final round vs. #2 Caldwell College. Start time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

The contest commenced Saturday, but was suspended in the bottom of the third inning tied at 1-1 due to lightning. When play resumed on Sunday, Queens added two runs after DH Kayla Morrissey rapped a two-run double. The Knights (32-20-1) made it 4-1 in the fourth when 2B Cat Pastor drilled an RBI double down the left field line.

GCU (33-23), refusing to roll over, tallied four runs on three hits, highlighted by a bases-loaded, bases-clearing two-bagger to right-center by C Meghan Sfraga, to put the Lions up 5-4 and ultimately secure the win.

Deanna Daluise (13-9) earned the win out of the Georgian Court bullpen, firing 3.2 innings of shutout ball (6 H, 1 BB, 4 K). Queens starter Monique Roberge (16-7) was tagged with the loss after yielding five runs (5 ER) on seven hits and four walks (3 K) in 4.2 innings of work.
