Lakewood, N.J.-- It was a tough night on the hardwood for the Georgian Court University men's basketball team as they dropped a CACC contest with the Wilmington University Wildcats, 67-60, Tuesday evening in the GCU Wellness Center. It was the visiting Wildcats who made just enough plays to propel them on to victory.
WU jumped out to an early lead, which they carried with them into the half, 32-23. The Lions, playing much improved in the second half, made a run to get back within five, but were unable to close the gap before time expired
The Lions were paced by J
ordan Wejnert's (Sr. Point Pleasant, NJ) game high 20 points and 10 rebounds and
J.D. Rodriguez (RFr. Perth Amboy, NJ), who added 16. However, it was not enough as GCU's leading scorer, Juwuan Carter (Fr.-Paterson, was held to just five points because of foul trouble. The squad was without
Keith Hughes (So.-Woodbridge, N.J.) and his 11.5 points-per-game due to an injury.
Wilmington put five Wildcats into double figure scoring as
Kevin Ohen (Sr. Union, NJ) led a balanced attack with 15 points. Both
Valentino Thompson (Sr. Tinton Falls, NJ) and
Sam Sanders (Jr. Philadelphia, PA) both followed with 14 points apiece for the visitors.
Georgian Court, with the loss, falls to 3-12 (0-9 CACC) while Wilmington improves to 4-13 (3-6 CACC). GCU will have some time to regroup as they do not play again until January 21st when they travel to Philadelphia University to take on the Rams.
