Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's soccer squad remains perfect in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition after today's 4-0 shutout of visiting Goldey-Beacom College (2-7, 1-5 CACC) improves GCU's conference mark to 7-0.
The Lions (10-1-1 overall), unbeaten in 11 straight contests, has now won 10 or more games in 10 straight seasons, the only team in the entire East Region (CACC, East Coast Conference, Northeast-10) to accomplish this mighty feat.
The scoring began early for Georgian Court as
Tuere Chisholm-Thomas put the home team on the board at 5:43 after chipping in a
Laura Nelson pass from about 10 yards out.
Kaitlyn Salisbury provided GCU a 2-0 advantage just before intermission (42:09) with her second score of the season, a blast off a
Rosa Franze from the left corner of the 18.
Lizzy Kroon increased her conference-leading goal total to 15, and put herself within one of the NCAA Divison II national lead, after booting home a nifty
Tayler Bramley header at 61:42. Bramley put her noggin to work again, this time for her seventh tally of the year, courtesy of a Chisholm-Thomas helper.
GCU dominiated the shots column, 23-8, while both clubs attempted four corner kicks apiece.
Casey O'Connor achieved her seventh shutout of the season in net for the Lions while she and her teammates have lowered their nationally-ranked goals-against average to a miniscule .410.
Georgian Court will next travel to Caldwell University for an always-thrilling CACC showdown. Start time is slated for 12:00 p.m.
