Lyndhurst, N.J.- Having won nine of its first 10 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) outings, the Georgian Court University softball squad did not expect Monday's result as the Lions laid a pair of post-Easter eggs with defeats of 10-2 (five innings) and 8-3 at Felician College.

The setbacks drop GCU to 10-20 overall (9-3 CACC) while the Golden Falcons improve to 8-11 on the year (5-3 CACC).

GAME ONE

Felician put a devastating six-spot on the scoreboard in the home half of the first inning, quickly compiling a lead from which the Lions would not be able to recover. With an advantage of 6-2 after three frames, the Golden Falcons tagged GCU for two runs in both the fourth and fitfh to cruise to the five-inning victory.

Georgian Court starting pitcher Abby Merryman was unable to get out of the first inning (0.2 IP) as the sophomore saw her season record fall to 6-5. Ashley Owens (Fr.-Lockport, N.Y.) went the distance for the victory (5-5), yielding two runs (2 ER) on four hits (1 BB) while striking out three.

Dara Schroeder was the Lions' lone bright spot in the contest, going 2-for-3 with her second inside-the-park homer of the season.

GAME TWO

A two-run single to left off the bat of Alyssa Paradiso erased a 3-1 Felician lead in the top of the sixth, but the stalemate would evaporate almost immediately as the Golden Falcons exploded for five runs on five hits in the bottom of the inning to seal the 8-3 win and the conference sweep.

Kaila Gerber (Fr.-Vincentown, N.J.) earned the "W" for Felician, permitting three runs (3 ER) on eight hits (5 BB) in 7.0 innings pitched. Merryman ended up on the short end again in the nightcap, dropping to 6-6 in the complete-game (6.0 IP).

Paradiso carried the Lions' offense in game two, going 4-for-4 with three RBI.

Things don't get easier for Georgian Court as they travel to defending CACC champion, Wilmington University, for a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.
