Nyack, N.Y.- The Georgian Court University women's soccer squad continues to cruise past its competition in 2015 as the Lions coasted to a 5-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) blanking of host-Nyack College Saturday afternoon, giving the Lions a six-game winning streak and five straight shutouts.
GCU, now 6-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 in CACC play, owns its first stretch of six consecutive triumphs since the 2008 campaign (9/30-10/15). The Warriors, who did not come out and play, drop to 1-5-1 (1-2 CACC).
The Lions, for the second straight outing, jumped out to an early-minute advantage as sudden scoring threat,
Jessica Constantine, sent in a
Lauren Mendez feed at 4:55 for her second goal of the season. CACC leader,
Lizzy Kroon, contributed her 10th of the year at 26:31 to give GCU a comfortable 2-0 lead headed into intermission.
Rosa Franze blasted Mendez's second helper of the day at 78:49 to give herself the first tally of her season and the visitors' a 3-0 surplus.
Tayler Bramley found the back of the net for her 5th goal of the year, courtesy of a Kroon assist at 84:56.
Rachel Marino continues to swing a hot foot as the senior collected her 4th on the season at 58:17, thanks to an assist from fellow senior
Tori Capestro.
Georgian Court outshot Nyack, 22-6, including a 4-0 advantage from the corners.
Casey O'Connor tallied her fifth consecutive goose egg and extended her scoreless streak between the Georgian Court posts to 486:14.
The Lions take to the road again this Tuesday when they travel to Holy Family University. The Tigers (5-2 overall) are also 4-0 in conference play. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
