Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University men's basketball squad has won back-to-back contests for the first time since November 2014 as the Lions were the center of attention Friday evening, executing a tidy, 72-64 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over visiting Caldwell University.

The Lions now sport a record of 4-14 (3-8 CACC) after the triumph while the Cougars drop to 5-13 (3-8 CACC) in the conference standings.

Georgian Court never trailed at any point in the affair, owning a first-half highwater mark of 12 points on two separate occasions. After coming out of intermission with a 40-31 advantage, the Lions increased its surplus to 13 points (50-37) after a pair of J.D. Rodriguez free throws with 12:01 remaining.

The Cougars, in no way feeling sorry for themselves, mounted a furious comeback after a 21-11 run over the next 9:05 cut the GCU lead to a slim 61-58 margin. The Lions, proving to be the antithesis of their former selves, cinched up their shorts and shut down Caldwell's hopes with an 11-6 spurt to secure the home victory.

Michael Pierre shined for the Lions, netting a game-best 19 points (including 4-of-7 from three-point land) in 27 minutes off the GCU bench. Juwuan Carter added 12 points while Keith Hughes (nine rebounds) and Nikola Vujovic provided 10 apiece.

Salvatore Vitello (Sr.-Bridgewater, N.J.) and Ned Ogoemesim (Fr.-Westampton, N.J.) paced the Cougars with 13 points each. Billy McDonald (Sr.-North Haven, Conn.) added 11 of his own while Dawan Lighty (Sr.-Paterson, N.J.) fell just short of a double-double with his nine points and nine boards.

GCU looks to make it three straight Tuesday evening with a divisional road game at the University of the Sciences.
