Lakewood, N.J.- Franklin Pierce University, playing its second contest in as many days, visited Georgian Court University Monday evening where the Ravens dismissed the host-Lions, 89-63, in non-conference men's basketball action.
The outcome was never in question as FPU (7-5) owned a 50-34 advantage at intermission before outscoring the home team by a 39-29 margin in the second stanza. The Ravens shot a stellar 34-for-62 (54.8%) from the floor while sinking a tantalizing 51.4% (19-for-37) from three-point land.Â
Matt Banton (Sr.-Brooklyn, N.Y.) and
Mike McDevitt (Jr.-Cumberland, Maine) topped the Franklin Pierce scoring column with 17 points apiece with Banton draining a game-high five three-balls. Teammates
Jordan Lackey (Jr.-South Plainfield, N.J.) and
Asante Sandiford (Jr.-Boston, Mass.) added 12 each with the latter connecting on four three-pointers.
Donte Gittens  (Sr.-Hartford, Conn.) dished an impressive 13 assists while registering an unheard of seven blocks in the win.
For the Lions (1-12),
Juwuan Carter earned his first double-double of the campaign with 12 points and a game-high 15 boards.
Caleb Bowser topped GCU with his 17 points while the Serbian duo of
Luka Zgonjanin and
Nikola Vujovic followed with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
The Lions return to the court on Thursday, December 29 with a 1:00 p.m. home game vs. Stonehill College.
