Philadelphia, Pa.- The Georgian Court University men's basketball team, after trailing by 20 at intermission, came out composed in the second half as the Lions outscored its opponent, 39-33, in an eventual 82-68 loss at Philadelphia University Tuesday evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition.
The host-Rams (6-3, 3-1 CACC) coasted to a 49-29 advantage after the initial 20 minutes of action before a resilient GCU squad came out and won the second-half battle.
"We took better care of the ball in the second (half) and defended Philadelphia's shooters much better," said Head Coach
Terrence Stewart. "Our guys didn't hang their heads and we fought until the end."
Juwuan Carter led the way for the Lions (1-8, 1-4 CACC) as the junior dropped in a season-high 20 points, which included a team-best four three-pointers.
Nikola Vujovic added 10 points of his own while
Keith Hughes controlled the boards with eight rebounds.
GCU returns home Thursday evening for a non-conference match-up with Mercy College. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
