Bensalem, Pa.- The Georgian Court University softball squad took to the road Thursday afternoon, falling to host-Holy Family University by the scores of 8-1 and 6-2 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader.
GAME ONE (Boxscore)An
Alycia Marsello single put the Lions ahead by an initial 1-0 margin in the top of the first in Game One, but the GCU defense was unable to parry the Holy Family bats as the Tigers plated three runs in the first, one in the third, and four more in the fourth to coast to the conference triumph.
Bailey Walters (Jr.-Ridgecrest, Calif.) earned the victory in the circle for Holy Family, permitting only the lone run (1 ER) on five hits and eight K's over seven frames.
Angela Lakatos (5.2 IP, 10 H, 4 R, 3 ER, BB, K) was the pitcher of record for Georgian Court.
Taylor Boltersdorf registered a 2-for-3 effort at the dish for the Lions while also swiping two bags.
GAME TWO (Boxscore)The Tigers jumped out to a mighty lead in the nightcap with a four-spot in the home half of the second, followed by two more in the fourth, to secure the CACC sweep. Georgian Court plated its two tallies in the top of the third, courtesy of
Kelly Hardiman two-run dinger. For Hardiman, it was her team-leading second long ball of the campaign.
Koreen Orozco (So.-Whittier, Calif.) secured the complete-game win for the Tigers, allowing two runs (2 ER) on six hits and a walk while striking out three.
Jessica O'Neil (6.0 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 4 K) suffered the loss for GCU.
Breanna Keelan went 2-for-2 off the Georgian Court bench.
The Lions return to action Saturday afternoon when they host Post University at 1:30 p.m.
