Clermont, Fla.- The Georgian Court University softball squad concluded its annual southern 12-game trek Saturday afternoon with regional defeats at the hands of Dowling College (13-7) and Kutztown University (3-0).

GAME ONE (Boxscore)

After yielding a pair of runs to Dowling College in the top of the first inning, Georgian Court pounced on the Golden Lions in the bottom half of the frame by batting around and plating six runs, highlighted by a JoLei Buonanno (2-for-4, 4 RBI) three-run dinger to left field and two hits and a pair of RBI by lead-off hitter, Bryana Smith (2-for-4).

Following a scoreless second for both clubs, the GCU lead would disappear in the top of the third as Dowling brought around four runs on six hits to tie the contest at 6-6. The Golden Lions (1-0) would proceed to put the score well out of reach with a five-spot in the sixth and another two in the seventh to secure a win in their first outing of 2016.

Composing herself after her difficult beginning, Vanessa Juengerkes (So.-Islip, N.Y.) proceeded to earn the "W" for Dowling in the circle, permitting seven runs (7 ER) on six hits and seven walks (3 K) in 6.0 IP.

In a tidy 1:14, Kutztown University (5-5) plated lone runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings and coasted to the one-hit, 3-0 blanking of Georgian Court.

Danielle Amato (So.-Henderson, Nev.) cruised to the complete-game victory, permitting just the one hit (Caroline Abin), to go along with a walk (Kelly Hardiman) and a hit-by-pitch (Smith). The Kutztown hurler also struck out four.
