Bloomfield, N.J.- The Georgian Court University softball squad suffered its third straight sweep Sunday afternoon as the Lions succumbed to Bloomfield College by the scores of 6-1 and 12-3 (6 innings) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
Three runs in the first and another pair in the second provided the Bears (16-20, 9-12 CACC) more than enough cushion in the opening contest. The Lions (7-35, 6-16) plated their lone tally in the top of the second, resulting from a
Taylor Boltersdorf infield single.
Kirsten Wilson (Jr.-Beaver Falls, Pa.) went the distance in the Bloomfield victory, permitting one unearned run while scattering three hits and a walk (7 K).
Angela Lakatos lasted only 2.0 innings in the setback (6 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 2 BB).
In the nightcap, GCU looked to erase its earlier demise, compiling a 3-0 lead after three-and-a-half innings. Unfortunately, implosion was on the horizon for the Lions as Bloomfield scored 12 runs over its final three at-bats to secure the six-inning triumph.
Stephanie Miller (Jr.-Temecula, Calif.) earned the win, going 5.0 innings in the effort (5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K).
Jessica O'Neil was nicked for the loss, allowing seven runs (5 ER) on nine hits and two walks (1 K) over four frames.
Alycia Marsello went 2-for-3 at the dish for the Lions while
JoLei Buonanno (groundout),
Kelly Hardiman (single), and
Bryana Smith (groundout) accounted for GCU's three RBI.
Georgian Court returns home to play out the string starting with a 2:30 p.m. conference doubleheader vs. Philadelphia University this Wednesday.
