Lafayette Hill, Pa.- The Georgian Court University men's lacrosse squad, playing its fourth consecutive contest away from campus, traveled to Chestnut Hill College Wednesday evening and dropped a 17-9 decision to the host-Griffins.
After a
Connor Houghton goal with 11:41 left in the second closed the Lions to within 6-3 of CHU, the Griffins rattled off 11 unanswered tallies to take commanding 17-4 advantage with two ticks remaining in the third quarter. The Lions closed the contest with a furious flurry of six straight goals, but the damage was already applied.
Houghton shined for GCU with a team-best four goals (five points) while
Ryder Verdoni added two goals and an assist for the Lions.
Logan Eisenhart was tagged with the defeat in the Georgian Court net, collecting 18 saves in 39:39.
The Lions (1-12) next play this Monday when GCU hosts St. Thomas Aquinas College at 4:00 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday. Georgian Court defeated the Spartans, 11-6, back on April 4 in Sparkill, N.Y.
