Sparkill, N.Y.- Put it in the books! The Georgian Court University men's lacrosse squad secured the first victory of the program's young 10-game history as the Lions traveled to St. Thomas Aquinas College Monday afternoon and defeated the Spartans by an 11-6 margin.
GCU (1-9) and STAC (0-8) traded initial tallies before the Lions fired home four unanswered goals to take a 5-1 advantage with 13:28 remaining before intermission. The Spartans slid to within one after three scores made it 5-4 Georgian Court.
The Lions finally took matters into their own hands by taking over and pouring in six of the contest's final eight scoring chances to coast into the winner's circle.
Cory Boyle led the GCU attack with a game-high four goals, while
CJ Francisco (1 goal, 2 assists),
Joseph Ramirez (1 goal, 2 assists), and
Jake Sherman (3 goals) also played crucial roles in the historic triumph.
Logan Eisenhart is now the answer to a trivia question as the freshman earned the win in the Georgian Court net, collecting four saves in the complete-game effort.
Georgian Court now takes a trip to Connecticut this Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. road contest at Post University.
