Waterbury, Conn.- Coming off its first triumph of the season, the Georgian Court University men's lacrosse squad journeyed north Saturday afternoon to take on Post University, eventually falling to the host-Eagles by a score of 14-9.
The two clubs traded goals to start the contest before Post (5-6) netted the next four to take a 5-1 lead at 14:37 in the second period. The Lions (1-10) cut the deficit to 5-4 with 12:57 left in the period after a three-goal flurry. The Eagles responded with two straight, which was immediately countered with a pair by GCU to make the score 7-6 with 0:43 remaining in the session.
The home team went on to register the contest's next three scoring opportunities to take a 10-6 surplus at the 9:37 mark of the third. The Lions would close to within three on two separate occasions in the remaining minutes, but that would be as close as GCU would get the rest of the way.
Three Lions would collect two goals apiece for Georgian Court, including:
Cory Boyle,
Michael Negrete, and
Joseph Ramirez.
CJ Francisco aided on a trio of tallies with his team-best three assists.
Jack Wilson made his first start of the season in net for GCU, compiling 14 saves in the 60:00 effort.
Georgian Court next travels to our nation's capital this Wednesday at 2:00 pm for a contest vs. the University of the District of Columbia.
