Lakewood, N.J. - After a sluggish and lackluster first half, the Georgian Court University women's soccer squad reconciled its discord with four unanswered goals in the second stanza as the Lions secured their fifth straight victory with a 4-1 triumph over visiting Nyack College Saturday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.

On a day GCU (5-2, 5-0 CACC) celebrated NJ Youth Soccer Appreciation Day, the home team could not get things going early as the Lions yielded a goal by Nyack's Tauntyonah Marie-Guinter (Fr. Rosendale, N.Y.) at 42:58, providing the Warriors (2-5, 2-3 CACC) with a 1-0 lead at intermission.

After absorbing some motivational words of wisdom during a halftime pep talk, the Lions returned to the pitch with a newfound focus. Anissia Fucci kicked off the comeback at 65:01 when the freshman headed in her first collegiate goal, set up by quickfire assists from Michaella Paradiso and Morgan Peacock.

Just 2:28 later, Kaitlin Lister connected on her third tally of the season, a blast to the upper left of the net as the freshman connected on a Morgan LaDuca feed to give Georgian Court a 2-1 lead. LaDuca would have the entire stage to herself for the Lions' third score of the half when the defensive stalwart sizzled a seed into the net from 30 yards out off a direct kick at 74:53.

Lauren Mendez closed out the lopsided second session with her first goal of the year after one-timing a Tuere Chisholm-Thomas cross at 81:41. Melinda MacNeil, the reigning CACC Defensive Player of the Week, also sported an assist on the scoring effort.

Natalie Axelsson needed just one save to earn her fifth victory of the year in the Georgian Court net. The Lions outshot the Warriors, 18-8.

GCU returns to action Tuesday afternoon with a 3:00 p.m. non-conference road contest at St. Thomas Aquinas College.
