Lakewood, N.J.- Visiting Goldey-Beacom College proved to be too much of a match for host-Georgian Court University Tuesday evening as the Lightning sizzled to an 81-53 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road win in the GCU Wellness Center.
First-place GBC increases its record to 13-3 (9-2 CACC) with the triumph while the Lions slip to 1-18 (1-10 CACC) on the year.
GCU hit the court with high energy to start the contest as the Lions jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead 2:35 into the affair.
Luka Zgonjanin's jumper with 8:07 remaining in the first half put the home team ahead, 20-19, providing Georgian Court its final advantage of the game.
The Lightning closed out the frame with a 16-6 zapping to bolt into intermission with a 35-26 lead. GBC grew its surplus to a game-high 32 points (81-49) after a
Khalil Keel (Sr.-Philadelphia, Pa.) three-pointer with 1:42 left to go, sealing the fate of the Lions.
Nikola Vujovic drained 16 first-half points to top the Lions in the box score, followed by Zgonjanin's 11 in 22 minutes off the GCU bench. Vujovic also grabbed a team-high eight boards in the effort. Arthur Miller distributed four assists for Georgian Court.
Riyan Williams (Sr.-Dunkirk, Md.)Â led all scorers with his 20 points for Goldey-Beacom.
Shakeem Wilson (Sr.-Brooklyn, N.Y.) deposited 13 points while
Parris Ridgeway-Higgs (Sr.-New Castle, Del.) and
Dante Thompson (Jr.-Coram, N.Y.)Â added 10 apiece.
The Lions now get a week-long reprieve before taking the floor at the University of the Sciences next Tuesday (Jan. 24) at 8:00 p.m.
