Staten Island, N.Y. - The Georgian Court University men's track & field squad ended the 2017 calendar year on a high note as the Lions provided a stellar showing in Friday's Wagner College Shootout, hosted at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
Three first-place efforts occurred on the day for GCU, highlighted by
Leon White's stellar performance in the Weight Throw (16.43m). Teammate
Troy Bass enjoyed a second-place showing in the Shot Put with a heave of 12.72 meters.
The duo of
Nathan Gill and
Robert Hill provided quite the thrill as both tied for the top spot in the High Jump with matching leaps of 1.90 meters.
On the track,
Devin Martin took fourth overall with a time of 8.82 seconds in the 60-meter Hurdles.
Tom Natoli established a new team record in the 600m Run with a mark of 1:25.46. The previous program-best of 1:28.03 was established on Feb. 6, 2016 by
Nick Claudeo.
Georgian Court now sits idle before returning to competition on Friday, January 12 in the Saint Thomas Aquinas College Spartan Regional Invite, in Staten Island, N.Y. (Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex).
