Box Score Brookville, N.Y.- The Georgian Court University men's lacrosse squad took to the road Saturday afternoon as the Lions traveled to take on LIU Post, eventually falling to the host-Pioneers by a 10-5 margin.
GCU (1-7) dug itself a massive hole as the home team netted nine unanswered goals to create a commanding 9-0 advantage with 9:39 left in the third period. The Lions came to life at that point by slinging in four straight of their own to almost cut the deficit in half (9-4) at 6:45 in the fourth. Both teams exchanged a tally each over the last 3:48 to extinguish the Georgian Court comeback.
Frank Ranfone (So.-Guilford, Conn.) topped the victors with three goals in the LIU Post win, followed by two apiece from
Dan Foley (Fr.-Carmel, N.Y.) and
Dylan Harned (Jr.-Selden, N.Y.). Â
Five different Lions found the back of the net on the day, which included
Jake Sherman who also added an assist to the stat sheet. The Pioneers (4-4) dominated the shots column with a 50-29 advantage while putting up a 29-12 differential when it came to shot-on-goal.
Bryan Ochs (So.-Syosset, N.Y.) (seven saves) earned the goalkeeping victory for LIU Post while
Austin Geissel (57:56) registered a stellar 19 saves in the outing for GCU.
The Lions return home Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. showdown vs. Davis & Elkins.
