Box Score Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University men's lacrosse squad owns its first-ever two-game winning streak as the Lions downed visiting St. Thomas Aquinas Saturday afternoon, 12-8, improving to 3-7 on the year in the process.

The Spartans (2-4) owned a slim 3-2 lead after the initial 15:00 of play, courtesy of a Briele Caples (Jr.-Rochester, N.Y.) hat trick. The Lions responded with a 5-1 pouncing in the second period to ride a 7-4 surplus into intermission.

GCU netted the lone three points of the third frame, compiling a stretch of six unanswered goals in the process. STAC answered with three straight tallies to start the fourth, slicing the deficit to 10-7. However, late-minute goals from Connor Houghton (5:55) and Brandon Razler (4:30) provided Georgian Court the cushion it needed to close out the home victory.

Razler topped the Lions with five points on the day with his goal and four helpers. Jake Sherman zipped in a team-best four goals for GCU. Caples was responsible for five of the Spartans eight goals while Tyler Senatore (Fr.-West Haverstraw, N.Y.) was nailed the remaining three.

The Lions outshot the Spartans, 51-42, but owned just a slight 27-26 advantage when it came to shots on frame.

Austin Geissel earned his third win of the year between the GCU pipes with 18 saves over 60:00. Ryan Mello (So.-Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) registered 15 saves in 59:31 for STAC.

Georgian Court now looks to Wednesday evening as the Lions venture to Molloy College for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
