Three Men's Records Crumble in NYC Gotham Cup

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Georgian Court University Men's Track & Field squad continues to require weekly edits to the program's record book as three more marks fell in Friday's NYC Gotham Cup, hosted at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

Hussein Elmeshad (3,000m Run), DaShawn Lamar-Baldwin (400m Dash) and Kennedy Omari (Long Jump) each authored new highs in the Lions' second indoor competition of 2018. Elmeshad's time of 9:10.35 eclipsed the previous record of 9:13.45 (Uriah St. Lewis, 1/28/17).

Lamar-Baldwin sprinted to a finish of 51.16 seconds in the 400m, snapping the time set by Michael Rogers (51.23) on Feb. 24, 2017. Omari restructured the distance that he established in December (6.35m) with a new leap of 6.63 meters.

On the women's front, Stephanie Bock enjoyed two Top-10 finishes in the Shot Put (7th-12.34m) and the Weight Throw (9th-13.96m). Lyric Green fired off an eighth-place effort in the Triple Jump with a leap of 10.84 meters. Jessica Handsaker took seventh in the 800m Run (2:18.76) while joining teammates Megan Moser, Jennifer Tregillies and Julia Watts for a ninth-place finish in the 4 X 400 Relay.

GCU returns to action next Saturday in the annual Lehigh University John Covert Classic.
