Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University student-athletes transform from "Lions" into "Christmas Angels" this time of year, once again partnering with the Society of St. Vincent DePaul of St. Martha's Roman Catholic Church in Pt. Pleasant, Beach, N.J. to purchase presents for local families in need during the holiday season.
According to
Noureen Beirne, a member of the church who came out to campus to pick up the generous gifts, Georgian Court's student-athletes served as "angels" to ten families this year, up from eight in 2017. "Georgian Court's student-athletes were so generous and have made such an impact on the program," shared Ms. Beirne. "The families are grateful and so are we."
Artie Sanchez, president of Georgian Court's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, added: "This program helps our student-athletes realize that by having the opportunity to attend college and play the sport they love, they are blessed. It's a wonderful feeling to give back when there are those in need who they can help."
2018 marks Georgian Court's fourth straight holiday season working with the Society of St. Vincent DePaul.
