Youngstown, Ohio - The Georgian Court University Track & Field team made its first-ever trek to the state of Ohio Friday as the Lions enjoyed a stellar showing at the Youngstown State University College Invitational. GCU made the most of the journey as four team records fell on the day, including three on the men's side.
In men's track action, the quartet of
Chukwuebizie Anuamadi,
Emeron Hernandez-Mayers,
Ian Knapp and
Dashawn Lamar-Baldwin came together for a fourth-place finish in the 4X400 Relay (3:24.74), erasing the Lions' previous-high of 3:25.35, set back on Feb. 24, 2017 at the East Coast Conference Championship meet.
Anuamadi also made history in the 800m Run with a mark of 1:57.07 (8th overall), wiping out the previous-best of 1:57.14, set by
Tom Natoli on Feb. 24, 2017 at the ECC Championships.
Lamar-Baldwin, like his teammate, also achieved individual acclaim by topping his own team record in the 400m Dash (51.16 seconds, 1/19/18) with a time of 50.49. Hernandez-Mayers also bested the Lions' previous team-high with a finish of 50.49 (14th-overall).
Charles Wolef-Fields continues to shine in his first season with GCU as the freshman took second place in the 60m Dash with his time of 6.94 seconds.
Hussein Elmeshad enjoyed a top-10 finish in the the Mile Run, completing the four laps in 4:24.54 (8th-place).
In field competition,
Devin Martin placed third in the Triple Jump with his leap of 13.62 meters, while
Dylan Breen took fourth in the Long Jump at 6.74 meters.
Cameron Wardle tied for fifth overall in the High Jump (1.90m).
Evan Boyce ranked sixth with a Pole Vault height of 4.03m.
On the women's front,
Charsima Bosley snapped a seven-year-old record in the GCU annals with a time of 25.97 seconds in the 200m Dash. The previous best was 26.02, set by
Susan Lora back on Feb. 23, 2012. In the 500m,
Jennifer Tregillies took 8th-overall with her finish of 1:21.44.
Lyric Green placed seventh in the Triple Jump at 11:20 meters.
Georgian Court returns to action on Saturday, January 26 at the Moravian College Indoor Meet, hosted by Lehigh University in Lehigh, Pa.
