New Haven, Conn.- The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference announced today that
Caleb Bowser of the Georgian Court University men's basketball team, and
Jada Atchison and
Destiny Thompson from the women's squad, have each earned All-CACC Second Team status for 2018-19.
Bowser, the Lions' leading scorer with 487 total points, placed third among all CACC players by averaging 20.3 points-per-game over 24 total contests. The Philadelphia, Pa. native netted double-digit scoring efforts in all but one of his outings this season, including nine showings of 20+ points and three others with 30+.
The junior poured in a season-high 33 back on January 8 in an overtime thriller vs. the University of the Sciences. Bowser also tied for the team lead with three double-doubles on the year.
Atchison, after missing essentially the entire 2017-18 campaign due to injury, returned to action this year with a sensational season, averaging 14.3 points-per-game (9th in CACC) over 26 games played.
The Burlington, N.J. sharpshooter poured in 68 total three-pointers, fourth-best among her CACC peers. Atchison eclipsed double-digits in the scoring column on 17 different occasions for the playoff-bound Lions, while draining 20+-points six other times. Jada dropped in a season-high 27 (including five three-pointers) in GCU's 87-80 home victory over Holy Family University back on January 22.
Thompson, the Lions' leading scorer with 394 total points, averaged 15.2 points-per-game (5th in CACC) over 26 total games, played a vital role in leading Georgian Court to its first postseason berth in 16 years.
A force on the boards as well, the Bridgeton, N.J. native grabbed 171 total rebounds to place second on the Georgian Court roster. Her four double-doubles also ranked second-best on the team. The senior sensation contributed 10 or more points in 19 contests, and topped 20 points three separate times. Thompson torched the competition with a season-best 24 points in back-to-back conference wins (1/19 at Concordia, 1/22 vs. Holy Family).
Georgian Court, with its 12-15 ledger (12-7 CACC), heads to the CACC postseason for the first time in 16 years tonight at 6:00 p.m. with a visit to Caldwell University (#2 North). GCU dropped the Cougars, 72-62, on the road back on Jan. 5 in the two squads' previous meeting.
