"These past few days have been undeniably devastating to the Georgian Court family. As student-athletes, what was known became unknown and what was worked for seems lost. A lot of us lost access to a game we've learned to love unconditionally and the weight it carries is surreal. Athletics kept us going and was a huge part of our lives here at GCU. However, at our core is more than excelling in our respective sports; it's about facing adversity and thriving in the midst. We don't win every game or finish first in every race, nor do we always get the result that we expected; we've all been through it. I also know that we all overcame it ... it's what we do. Our programs have instilled in us the ability to bounce back, regardless of how tough it gets. During this challenging time, I encourage each of us to face the adversity of today and thrive in the midst together. I know it's not easy but I can assure you that this will only make us stronger. My heart goes out to every athlete and coach that lost this season, especially my fellow seniors."
"I ask everyone to work on appreciating everything we have in life, great or small. Take advantage of the time we have now and cherish the relationships we have, as well. To my fellow student-athletes that are continuing his or her career, I encourage you to play every game wholeheartedly. Take every shot, swing, and sprint as if it were your last. Wear that lion on your chest with the utmost pride and a sense of gratitude. All is not lost! Thank you, Lions, for all of your hard work and commitment this year. As a department, we will continue to work toward our goals day in and day out because everything will turn out better than it was before. I am blessed and fortunate to be a part of this department and University and cannot wait to see the successes that come!"
