"Each year during our Chi Alpha Sigma induction ceremony, I always say how this is one of the most gratifying moments for all of us serving in athletics," shared Georgian Court Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics,
Laura Liesman. "It is the day we get to stand and applaud our student-athletes for their successes in the classroom."
Â
"Even though we are not able to be personally together to provide that ovation for our student-athletes, it is still just as important to celebrate their academic achievements.
These honors certainly never materialize without the incredible collection of faculty members at Georgian Court. Our educators spend countless hours to be mentors to not just our student-athletes, but also to each and every one of our STUDENTS at Georgian Court. This semester they have risen to the challenge of moving their classes to a virtual format with only a four-day notice, while delivering high-quality content. In addition, they have provided a compassionate ear to our students as they navigate this new learning environment."
"Over the past decade, we have nearly inducted 200 student-athletes into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society. This year, we proudly honor our 20 newest inductees, representing seven athletic teams."
The National College Athlete Honor Society was founded at DePauw University, Greencastle, Indiana, on May 17, 1996, as a student-athlete honor society for the recognition of high academic achievers and sport letter-winners at the collegiate level.
Â
Chi Alpha Sigma was established to recognize college student athletes who earn a varsity letter in at least one sport while maintaining a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA throughout their junior and senior years. The governing board represents all levels of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
