Bethpage, N.Y. - Georgian Court University returned to cross country competition for the first time in almost two years Friday afternoon as the Lions placed 8th overall in the Adelphi Panthers Invitational at Bethpage State Park. The GCU harriers last saw action on November 9, 2019 in the NCAA East Regional Championships.
The Lions totaled 187 points with an average time of 28:46.80 on the 8K course. Kutztown University earned the meet title with a first-place point total of 53 overall points.
Xavier Seals, in his cross country debut for the royal and gold, topped Georgian Court with a time of 27:43.10 (22nd overall).
Chukwuebizie Anuamadi followed closed behind, finishing 24th overall with a mark of 27:45.90.
Dylan Navarro, also making his first XC appearance for the Lions, took 39th at 28:54.40.
Nolan Czech (49th, 29:40.70),
Kevin Knoetig (53rd, 29:50.00), and
Riley Keffer (55th, 30:01.00) closed out the Georgian Court entries.
"The team ran a small squad today as we are still getting back into the swing of things after almost two years away," stated head coach
Mike Murawski. "They got away from the race plan a little bit, but were able to salvage it towards the end of the course."
Georgian Court will next see action on Saturday, Sept. 11 with an appearance in the Philadelphia Metropolitan Invite, hosted by Jefferson.
