Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 Winter Park, Fla. - Georgian Court University, making its first-ever visit to the campus of Rollins College, did not receive the hospitality it was hoping for as the host-Tars swept the #22 Lions (4-2, 6-2) in non-conference softball action.
Kaitlyn Stufft, the CACC Player of the Week, continued her hot start as the sophomore slammed her third long ball of the season ( a two-run shot) to provide the visitors an immediate 2-0 lead in the first. Rollins responded with three tallies in the bottom of the frame, followed by an additional score in the fifth, to close the contest with four unanswered digits to secure the win.
In the nightcap, the Tars (7-3) carried a 6-0 lead into the final frame before Rollins permitted two runs on a two-out fielding error to ruin the shutout bid.
The Lions (2-4) have little time to lament as the royal-and-blue returns to The Spring Games Wednesday with games vs. Tiffin University (4-7) and University of Missouri-Saint Louis (5-5) at 10:00 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. in Winter Haven, Fla.
