Lions Finish Regular Season Home vs. Chestnut Hill

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Oct. 30, 2023) - Georgian Court Women's Soccer wraps up the regular season tomorrow afternoon at home.

Previously vs. Chestnut Hill
• Georgian Court has had a very successful history against Chestnut Hill. The Lions are 16-2 all-time against CHC.
• The Griffins snapped a GCU 12-match winning streak in 2021. That was the last match played between these two in Lakewood.
• Last year, the Lions got the win back defeating Chestnut Hill 2-1 in Philadelphia.
• The Lions got two goals less than three minutes apart last year from Aliya Canfield and Sydney Kulenguski.
• All three of the game's goals were scored in the second half.
• Chestnut Hill closed the gap with a goal in the 76th minute, but GCU closed out the game for a 2-1 win. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court dropped their second straight game, 2-1 at Bridgeport on Saturday.
• The Lions allowed an early goal as the Purple Knights scored in the first 10 minutes.
• GCU was able to tie in the 60th minute as Abby Kennelly one-timed a pass from Seanna Boan to tie the game.
• Bridgeport though retook the lead the 70th minute and played defense for the final 20 minutes to hold on to the win.
• It's the first time GCU has lost two straight since Sept. 3-9. 

Who's Hot?
Abby Kennelly scored her fifth goal against Bridgeport.
Seanna Boan has played in each of the last three games and picked up her first assist Saturday.
• Carley Polchak has allowed one goal or less in her last six matches played. 
• The Lion defense has allowed one goal or fewer in six of the last eight matches. 

CACC Leaders 
• Jessica Ford and Ashley Merizalde's three assists are tied for 10th in the league.
• Carley Polchak has 44 saves which is also 10th.  
• GCU is seventh with a 1.56 goals against average.
• Georgian Court has the sixth most helpers in the league with 18 assists. 
• GCU is second in the CACC in fewest fouls committing just 6.62 per contest.

Individual Milestones
• Aliya Canfield is tied for 10th all-time at GCU in points. She's four away from ninth place and two away from 50.
• Gabriella Paccione is 22 minutes away from 1,500 in her career and Izzy Hernandez 35. Bridgette King is 21 shy of 1,000.
Abby Kennelly's next game played will be her 50th. 

Ties the Limit
• In his first 17 seasons as Head Coach, Jim Moore's Lions played to a draw 30 times. An average of 1.76 per season.
• Since the NCAA eliminated overtime in the regular season, the Lions have played to 13 draws in less than two full seasons.
• The Lions five draws this season in the CACC are the most league draws in the Jim Moore era.

Playoff Picture
• This is the Lions final regular season game of 2023. 
• The top eight teams make the CACC postseason with the top four hosting the opening round. 
• The Lions have 14 points and are currently in seventh place, one point behind sixth-place Dominican.
• The top five teams in the CACC have already locked up a playoff berth and there are four teams vying for the final three places.
• A win tomorrow will guarantee a playoff spot, a loss or tie and they'll need help or tie-breakers to get in. 
• The opening round of the CACC Tournament is Sunday, Nov. 5.

About Chestnut Hill
• Chestnut Hill is one point behind the Lions, but are one of just two teams to play twice this week.
• Like GCU, the Griffins have dropped two straight and are 5-6-2 overall and 4-4-1 in the CACC.
• The Griffins are yet to win a game on the road this season. 
• One thing to note about Chestnut Hill is their physicality. The Griffins have 21 yellow cards this season, sixth most in the NCAA and their 13.3 fouls per game are the most in the CACC and second-most in Division II. 
• Chestnut Hill is adept at getting shots off. They have 14.7 this season, second-most in the CACC.
• Elizabeth Stokes and Alyssa DeGeorge each have five goals this season. Stokes also leads the league with nearly two shots on goal per game.
