STATEN ISLAND, NY (Feb. 10, 2023) - This afternoon and evening was the final meet for Lions Track and Field before next week's ECC Championships. Georgian Court did not have a full squad competing at Friday's Fasttrack Invitational, but still put together a good meet.

The meet featured a mix of NCAA Division I, II and III competition from the surrounding area.

Jumps
• The highlight of the meet for Georgian Court came from sophomore Jan Volkmar. Volkmar bettered his own school record in the pole vault clearing 16-2.75. His previous-best mark was 15-11 which came outdoors. Volkmar is now the first Lion to ever jump 16 feet or above in the pole vault. The mark, which was good for second place in the competition, is also an NCAA qualifier and would put him in a tie for 12th in the nation entering the week. 
• Volkmar cleared the first four bars on his first attempt at each, including 15-11 which would have been a new indoor best and matched a lifetime best. He then took two attempts at 16-2.75 and failed to clear, before successfully getting over on his third and final attempt. 
• Volkmar wasn't the only Lion in the pole vault competition. Julian Rodriguez jumped 13-9.25 to match an indoor personal-best and tie for 10th place. 
• GCU had another top-10 finish in the jumps. Jeshurun Devero set a new lifetime best in the triple jump with a mark of 48-4. That new PR was good for third place and is the first time he's jumped 48 feet indoors.
• In the women's triple jump, Shanae Rayside finished in 12th place. She finished with a mark of 36-3. Elena Martinez-Rodriguez was a couple spots behind Rayside in 15th place jumping 34-7.75. 

Sprints/Hurdles
• GCU had just one compete in both the men's and women's 60m hurdles and 60m dash. In the hurdle races, Shalom Adzakro finished 13th running 9.49. Henry Jean-Michel ran 9.03 for 32nd place.
• In the short sprint 60m dash, Noah Roach crossed the line in 6.86 for 23rd place. Yanely Bohorquez-Gonzalez was 35th in 8.25.
• The only competitor for GCU in the 200m dash was Aamere McKethan. He ran 24.18 and came in 69th place. 
• Two Lions set personal-bests in the 400m dash. Niya Barden ran 1:03.81 while Selma Cazimoska finished in 1:11.07.
• Sean Donnamaria moved into the GCU all-time top-10 in another event. He ran 51.54 for 400m which was good for 28th place and eighth all-time on the Lions top-10 list. 

Distance
• The highest finished by a Lion was Xavier Seals who came in fourth place in the 3,000m run. He ran a personal-best 9:00.19 which moved him to fourth all-time in the event at Georgian Court.
• Joseph Jamolawicz ran 9:59.04 and Thomas Rosky 10:02.58 for the 3,000m as well.
• Two competed in the women's mile. Amirah Beasley ran 5:48.81 while Ashlee Pataky ran 6:17.82.

Throws
• Volkmar did more than just fly over the pole vault bar. He was the only Lion to compete in a throwing event. He threw the shot put 43-2.5 for 30th place. 

The Lions are right back at Ocean Breeze next Sunday, Feb. 19, for the ECC Conference Championship Meet.
