LAKEWOOD, NJ (Feb. 28, 2023) - Georgian Court Softball takes the field again this weekend at an early season tournament that sees them playing five teams in Columbus, Ga.

• Georgian Court went down to Columbus, Ga. for the NFCA Leadoff Classic where they went 4-1 winning the final four games.
• GCU won in a variety of ways. Two of their wins were by one run, with one coming in extras. The other two were five-inning run-rule games.
• Their last game of the week saw the Lions defeat California (PA) 16-0 in five innings.
• They also had wins over Norther State, West Chester and Le Moyne.
• Following the tournament, Adriana Mungo made the All-Tournament Team. 

Who's Hot?
• Mungo made the All-Tournament team after hitting .500 with seven RBI.
• Janelle Blazska started two games going the distance in both and allowing just two earned runs.
• Kaitlyn Stufft, Alyssa Herrera and Maddie Rabe each hit the first home runs of the season for GCU.
• Coco Dunham finished the week with four hits in her last three games with three runs scored.
• Jadalynn Rodriguez collected two hits apiece in three of five games in Columbus.

• Jadalynn Rodriguez will get to 75 games played with four more. She's also nearing 25 RBI needing one more and 50 runs scored needing four. 
• With one more run scored, Kiara Meikle will get to 50 in her career.
• Brittany Gable will reach 25 runs with one more and 25 hits with four. 
• If Taylor Lipkens gets 12 more at bats she'll reach 100.
• Three more runs scored will get Alyssa Herrera to 100.

Lions in the CACC (statistic minimums set by NCAA)
• Offensively the Lions are 12th in Division II hitting .358.
• GCU is also in the top-25 nationally in on-base percentage reaching at a 42.9% clip, good for 18th in the country.
• On the base paths, GCU is swiping 3.4 bags per game, most in the CACC and fifth in the country.
• Taylor Lipkins leads the CACC and is seventh in Division II with 14 stolen bases. 
• With 1.40 RBI per game, Adriana Mungo leads the conference. 
• Jadalynn Rodriguez and Mungo go 1-2 in the CACC in batting average. Rodriguez is hitting .545 and Mungo .500. Rodriguez also ranks 17th in the nation. 

About the Opponents
UNC-Pembroke Braves
• UNC-Pembroke has played 13 games with a 3-10 record.
• They've dropped four straight, but haven't played since Feb. 22 due to a cancelation last weekend. 
• The Pembroke offense has struggled, having already been shut out five times in their 10 losses.
• As a team, the Braves are hitting just .209 with 39 runs scored, three per game.
• Marijo Wilkes has driven in nine of the Braves 38 runs and her .459 slugging percentage leads the team.
• The pitching staff is led by Summer Bullard who's 1-5 with a 3.28 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 33 innings. 

Francis Marion Patriots
• Francis Marion is 14-2 on the season, winners of six straight.
• When playing at home, the Patriots are 9-1. 
• In Division II, the Patriots are sixth hitting .382 and fourth with a .465 on-base percentage.
• The Pats are outscoring their opponents 137-61. Megan Matsil, Makayla Cuthbertson and Taylor Watford are all hitting above .440 this season. 
• Danielle Karacson has a team-leading 19 RBI and four home runs in 16 games.
• Jenna Walling and Rachel Davis have each started eight games. Walling is unbeaten at 8-0 with 2.98 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 49.1 innings.

Barton Bulldogs

• As a team Barton is hitting .333 and averaging almost six runs per game.
• Makenzie Cyzick leads the team hitting .478. Emily Bell has a team-best seven RBI
• Miranda Holmes leads the Bulldogs having thrown 15.1 innings. She has a 4.11 ERA and is 1-0 in her four appearances.
• Rilee Jones has a team-high four starts. She has a 4.10 ERA in 13.2 innings with 21 strikeouts.
