Men's Lacrosse Welcomes No. 4 Adelphi to Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Feb. 28, 2023) - Georgian Court Men's Lacrosse brings in another top-10 opponent for a midweek tilt.

Previously vs. Adelphi
• Only once have these two teams previously met. That was last year in Garden City.
• The then-sixth ranked Panthers came away with a 16-6 win, allowing just two goals in the final three quarters.
• GCU trailed by just two, 6-4 after one period, but were outscored 10-2 the rest of the way.
Daniel Burnham totaled three points with a goal and two assists.
Michael Ventresca and Devin Bell each scored twice. 
Sebastian Farah stopped 14 shots in goal. 

Last Time Out
• The Lions picked up their first win of the season as they defeated The College of Saint Rose 11-10 Saturday afternoon.
• With the game tied at 10, Michael Ventresca scored the game winner with 6:29 to play.
• The GCU defense made that one goal lead stand. Goalkeeper Vincent Burkhart made four saves down the stretch including one with just 16 seconds left to seal the win.
• Burkhart finished the game making 24 saves in net and sported a 70.6 save percentage.
• Tallen Smith totaled a team-best five points with two goals and an assist.
• Daniel Burham scored three times, all in the first half and added an assist and three ground balls.
• Brett Bridges and Michael Ventresca each scored twice. 
• Justin Iannarone was 14-25 in the face-off circle with 11 ground balls.

Individual Milestones
• Five points will get Michael Ventresca to 100.
• With one point James Sanford will get to 25. 
• Both Michael Ventresca and Daniel Burnham will break the GCU career shots record in the near future. Who gets there first is very much undecided. The current record is 299 set by Ryder Verdoni. Ventresca currently has 288 shots and Burnham is right behind with 286.
Millan Webster is one shot away from his 25th.  
Tallen Smith is two goals away from 50. 
Joe Zerr needs two points to reach 25 and one shot to get to 50.

• Freshman goalkeeper Vincent Burkhart has 20+ saves in consecutive games.
Tallen Smith and Michael Ventresca have each scored in all three games this season.
Justin Iannarone was 14-24 on face-offs against Saint Rose. 
Daniel Burnham has seven points in this last two games. 
Brett Bridges totaled three points against the Golden Knights.
