Softball To Play Two Doubleheaders This Weekend, Start Conference Play

LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 14, 2023) - After playing their home opener last week, Georgian Court Softball is back on the road this week.

Previously vs. Millersville
• Georgian Court has enjoyed plenty of success in the past against Millersville. All-time the Lions are 11-2 against the Marauders.
• The Lions swept a doubleheader at home last year against Millersville, winning 6-2 and 7-4.
Mikayla Gilgert and Sarah Clancy each picked up wins in the circle.
• Taylor Barazza totaled five RBI with a home run.
Alyssa Herrera and Adriana Mungo each had four hits. 

Previously vs. Felician
• GCU has also had plenty of success against Felician. The Lions are 40-9 all-time against the Golden Falcons.
• The Lions have won six straight against the Golden Falcons. Felician's last win over the Lions came in a doubleheader sweep in 2018. 
• Last season GCU won both doubleheader games in five innings, 10-2 and 13-5.
• The Lions smacked seven home runs in the doubleheader sweep.
Mikayla Gilgert got the win in both games. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court started their home slate with a dominating performance, shutting out Southern New Hampshire in both ends of a doubleheader last week.
• GCU earned a 3-0 win in game one, before finishing things in five, 10-0 in game two.
Maddie Rabe and Janelle Blaszka each threw complete game shutouts.
Jayda Jones had a three-RBI double in game two.
Kaitlyn Stufft had RBI doubles in the fourth and sixth innings. 

Who's Hot?
Maddie Rabe has allowed two runs over her last 14 innings pitched with nine strikeouts.
Jadalynn Rodriguez has a five-game hitting streak.
Adriana Mungo has seven RBI in her last four games.
Taylor Lipkins has at least one hit in 12 straight games and has scored 14 runs over that stretch.

Individual Milestones
• Brittany Gable will get to 25 hits with three more. 
• Haley Korsak needs to throw 1.1 innings to get to 50.
• One more at bat will get Taylor Barraza to 300. 
Jadalynn Rodriguez is one RBI shy of 25 and one stolen base away from 30. 

Lions in the CACC (statistic minimums set by NCAA)
• Within the conference, Georgian Court has one of the most potent offenses. They rank in the top-five in nearly every offensive category.
• GCU leads the league in home runs per game and are second slugging .451 for the season.
• The Lions baserunning has played a big part in their success. They are second in the CACC and 24th in the country in stolen bases with 51. They also rank ninth in the nation in with 11 sacrifice flies.
• Individually, Adriana Mungo leads the CACC with 24 RBI and five triples. 
• Taylor Lipkins 20 stolen bases are tops in the CACC as are her 21 runs scored. 
• With a 1.27 ERA, Maddie Rabe is second in the CACC. 

About the Opponents
Millersville Marauders

• Millersville has an identical 11-7 record to the Lions.
• The Marauders though have dropped two straight and four of their last five. They've scored just 12 runs in those five games.
• The team was picked at the bottom of the PSAC East preseason poll falling eighth among nine teams.
• Millersville has leaned heavily on pitcher Alex Schaefer, throwing 59.2 of the Marauders 114.2 innings this season. She's won back-to-back PSAC East Pitcher of the Week honors and last week threw 32 innings across six games. She has an 8-3 record this season with a 1.29 ERA.
• Pitching hasn't been an issue for Millersville as their 1.65 team ERA is second in the PSAC and 18th nationally.
• They're scoring five runs per game and their defense is won of the worst in Division II with a .943 fielding percentage. 
• Kendra Bumgardner leads 'Ville with 21 hits and a .356 average.
• Aleese Angelo has been the top run producer driving in 18 with eight extra-base hits and a .891 OPS. 

Felician Golden Falcons
• Felician is off to a good start at 8-7 before the conference season. 
• A year ago they finished 15-24 overall and were 10-14 in the CACC which put them 11th and outside of a playoff spot.
• Before the start of the season, Felician was picked to finish 10th in the CACC Preseason Coaches Poll. 
• The Golden Falcons have a team ERA of 4.69. Riley Williams leads the staff with 39.2 innings pitched and a 4.24 ERA. She's struck out 22 but walked 30.
• Felician's offense is led by Daisha Howard. She's hitting .362 this season with a team-best three home runs and 13 RBI.
