Lions Softball Play Home Opener Friday Afternoon

LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 9, 2023) - Georgian Court Softball play their first home game of 2023 this Friday afternoon. Please note the date and time change. Originally scheduled for Saturday, March 11, this doubleheader is being moved to Friday due to inclement weather in the weekend forecast.

Mental Health Awareness Day
• Georgian Court is partnering with the GCU Counseling Center to help bring out mental health awareness and educate students, staff and parents that it's okay to not be okay. 
• The GCU Counseling Center will be on hand to provide information.
• Throughout the game, t-shirts will be on sale for $20 with 100% of the proceeds going to the Mental Health Foundation.
• The Mental Health Foundation, a 501c3 non profit dedicated to proactively creating a discrimination free society and specializing in mental health awareness, education, suicide prevention and addiction.

Previously vs. Southern New Hampshire
• Georgian Court is 3-5 all time against Southern New Hampshire.
• The two team's haven't met since 2019 in the East Regional Championship.
• SNHU eliminated the Lions with a 7-0 win.
• The game was scoreless through four innings before a crucial Lions error allowed four unearned runs to score in the fifth inning.

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court wrapped up their tour of the Carolinas with a split against Barton.
• GCU won game game 5-2.
Maddie Rabe pitched a complete game allowing just two runs on four hits with three strikeouts.
Adriana Mungo was 3-4 with all three hits driving in a run.
Savannah Simons was last week's CACC Rookie of the Week.
• The Lions went 9-7 on their season-opening 16-game road trip throughout the south and western parts of the United States. 

Who's Hot?
• During the six-game stretch in the Carolinas, Taylor Lipkins hit .500 with 10 hits in 20 at bats, eight runs scored and six stolen bases.
Adriana Mungo drove in eight runs with five of her nine hits going for extra bases.
Savannah Simons had six hits in 16 at bats with three runs scored and four RBI.
Maddie Rabe picked up both wins pitching 17 innings and allowing six earned runs with 11 strikeouts. 

Individual Milestones
• With one more run scored, Jadalynn Rodriguez will score her 50th.
Kiara Meikle's next game played will be her 100th. 
Alyssa Herrera needs two more runs scored to get to 100 in her career.
Brittany Gable will get to 25 hits with three more. 
Haley Korsak needs to throw 1.1 innings to get to 50.
• With five more at bats, Taylor Barraza will reach 300. 

Lions in the CACC (statistic minimums set by NCAA)
• Within the conference, Georgian Court has one of the most potent offenses. They rank in the top-five in nearly every offensive category.
• GCU leads the league in home runs per game and are third slugging .452 for the season.
• The Lions baserunning has played a big part in their success. They are second in the CACC and 20th in the country in stolen bases. They also rank eighth in the nation in sacrifice flies.
• Individually, Adriana Mungo leads the CACC in doubles and triples and is second in slugging percentage.
Taylor Lipkins 20 stolen bases lead the conference and are sixth in Division II.
• With a 1.62 ERA, Maddie Rabe is fifth in the CACC. 

About the Opponents
Southern New Hampshire Penmen

• Southern New Hampshire got their season started February 17, but haven't played in nearly a month. They are 3-2 this season with their last game coming February 19.
• Before the season, SNHU was picked to finish fifth in the Northeast 10. 
• A year ago, the Penmen were 23-20-1 overall and 16-9-1 in the NE10. Their season came to an end in the NE10 semifinals.
• Pitched Leine McKechnie has pitched in all five games for the Penmen, all in relief. She's totaled 17.2 innings with a 1.58 ERA.
• The Penmen have a 2.60 team ERA. Hannah DeRock is 1-0 with a 2.71 ERA in three starts.
• There are six different Penmen with five hits. Alyssa DiMauro has driven in a team-best four runs.
• In the field, SNHU is averaging two errors per game with a .941 fielding percentage.
