Lion Women Earn Five CSC Track and Field Academic All-District Honors

LAKEWOOD, NJ (May 31, 2023) - Five Georgian Court Women's Track and Field student-athletes earned 2023 College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors this morning. The five Lions are Yanely Bohorquez-Gonzalez, Julia Kirschnick, Elena Martinez-Rodriguez, Jaison-Ashley Pleva and Aaliyah Thorpe.

The All-District awards, selected by the CSC, recognize top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. In order to be eligible academically, student-athletes must carry a GPA of 3.50 or greater and be in at least the second year at the current institution. Current graduate student transfers are eligible in their first year. Athletically, student-athletes must be a starter or primary reserve and have competed in at least 50% of the team's contests. 

Bohorquez-Gonzalez is a senior with a 3.90 GPA in Psychology. This past season, she was a part of the Lions 4x100m relay team which took third place at the CACC conference meet. She also competed at the ECC Indoor Conferece Championships running the 60m and 200m dashes. 

Kirschnick is a junior academically studying Psychology and carries a 3.98 GPA. She is a four-time conference champion in the pole vault winning both indoors and outdoors in 2022 and 2023. This season she also scored for the Lions taking fifth place in the javelin.

Martinez-Rodriguez scored for the Lions in three events at the CACC Outdoor Conference Championship. She was fourth in the triple jump, seventh in the high jump and eighth in the long jump. In addition, she also scored in all three of those events during the indoor season as well. She's a junior with a 3.92 GPA in Criminal Justice. 

Pleva is a senior, also studying Criminal Justice with a 3.92 GPA. She scored for the Lions in the 100m hurdles and the triple jump at the CACC Outdoor Championships taking seventh in the triple and eighth in the hurdles. During the indoor season, Pleva was on the podium with a third place finish in the triple jump.

Thorpe is a junior with a 3.86 GPA in Psychology. She was a part of the Lions fourth place 4x400m relay team this outdoor season and also competed in the open 400m dash. Indoors, she was a part of two relay teams which scored for GCU, the fourth place Distance Medley Relay and the fifth place 4x400m relay. 

All five are now eligible for the CSC Academic All-American Team which will be announced in June.
