Last Time Out
• Georgian Court got the full outdoor track and field experience at Monmouth.
• Competing in temperatures that hovered around 40 degrees and strong wind gusts, the Lions were definitely in a battle with the elements.
• GCU handled themselves well and still had strong performances against mostly Division I competition, that included some personal-bests and event winners.
New Look Top-10
• Already two weeks into the outdoor season, Georgian Court has 18 new marks in the top-10.
•
Daizhae' Brown and
Sigurlaug Sveinsdottir are each in two events on the women's side.
• In the throws, the men have seven new marks.
Cameren Anderson stamped his name in the record books in all four throwing events.
• GCU is still looking for their first new school record in an outdoor event.
Outdoor Track
• The outdoor season brings with it new events, especially in the throwing events as the discus, hammer throw and javelin are all competed outdoors.
• On the track, the shortest sprint jumps from a 60m to 100m. That goes for hurdles as well with the 100m hurdles for women and 110m hurdles for men. There is also a second hurdle race added, the 400m intermediate hurdles.
• Mid-distance runners drop from the mile indoors to 1500m outdoors. There is also the addition of the 3,000m steeplechase and the 10,000m races.
• The biggest difference of course is the size of the track. Indoors is competed typically on a 200m track, and where the Lions mostly compete it's a 200m banked track. Outdoors doubles in size to a 400m flat track.
What to Watch
• Georgian Court will send the full squad to compete this weekend.
• That's a total of 46 student-athletes in action.
• We're yet to see GCU run a relay this season. That could change as both the men and women are entered in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
• Most of the distance crew will be running at 800m on Saturday with a few exceptions.
Brenna Sullivan is entered in Friday's 5,000m and
Nolan Kus and
Matthew Schaub are in the 10,000m
• The women's sprinters are loaded up in the 100m this week while the men are mostly in the 200m and 400m events.
• Georgian Court has a full array of jumpers and throwers in the field events. Especially in the men's shot put where seven are entered to throw.
Georgian Court Awards
• It was another big week for GCU Track and Field when it came to awards.
•
Chiamaka Wokocha was chosen as the CACC Field Athlete of the Week and
Daizhae' Brown the Field Rookie of the Week.
•
Cameren Anderson and
Shalom Adzakro made the CACC weekly Honor Roll.
• Georgian Court is up to five CACC Athletes and Rookies of the Week this season plus another four on the weekly Honor Roll.
The Outdoor Schedule
• The first two weeks, GCU competed in their home state of New Jersey at Stockton and Monmouth.
• They now head to Pennsylvania for two weeks at Millersville and the annual Shippensburg Mid-Week Bonanza.
• The final week of the regular season sees the historic Penn Relays as well as the TCNJ Lions Invitaitonal.
• The 2026 CACC Championship meet is once again hosted by Georgian Court. That's held Friday-Saturday, May 1-2.
