WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ (March 28, 2026) - It wasn't a fun afternoon at the track as Georgian Court battled through cold temperatures and strong winds, but GCU battled throught the conditions to turn in a strong performance at the Monmouth Home Opener.
Sprints/Hurdles
• GCU had one in each hurdle race.
Brian Kutney ran the 110m hurdles and was fifth running 15:43 which is a new PR and puts him fifth all-time at GCU.
•
Barone Vankline ran 11.20 in the 100m dash. That put him in 12th place overall.
•
Nick Jordan ran a PR in the event finishing in 11.72.
• Running the 100m hurdles,
Shalom Adzakro had a fifth place finish in 15.80.
• Competing in the 400m for the first time this season,
Molly Burns ran 1:06.60 for 23rd place. She also ran at 200m last in the day finishing 41st in 28.96.
• Georgian Court men had five run the 400m dash. They were led by
Brandon Rudder finishing 19th in 52.56.
•
Marcos Murillo-Benavides was behind Rudder in 24th place. He ran 53.76.
•
James McCoy and Gary Boyd finished back-to-back in 27th and 28th place. McCoy ran 53.86 and Boyd 54.01.
•
Sean Donnamaria rounded out the 400m group running 54.36 for 31st place.
•
Sigurlaug Sveinsdottir added her name to another top-10 list. This time in the 200m where she ran 26.48 for 16th place.
•
Leela McConnell made her season debut in the 200m. She ran 27.96 for 38th place.
• Also making her season debut was
Stephanie Rodas. She ran the 400m hurdles and was 12th in 1:15.06.
Distance
•
Zachary Spoonire and
Stephen Lane ran 800m for the Lion men. Spoonire finished 26th in 2:01.96. Lane was 37th in 2:07.87.
•
Ryan Pettrow was the only Lion to run at 1500m. He finished 31st in 4:14.24.
•
Nolan Kus ran the 5,000m and finished in 25th place. He ran an outdoor personal-best time 16:07.38 which moves him to seventh on the Lions top-10 list.
•
Sophia Mauro was the only distance runner on the women's side to compete. She ran the 800m and finished 17th in 2:25.30.
Jumps
•
Daizhae' Brown stuck to just jumping this weekend. She was 3rd in the long jump with her mark of 16-11.5 and sixth in the high jump with an outdoor PR of 4-9.
•
Sigurlaug Sveinsdottir was a spot behind Brown in the long jump. She jumped 16-9.25 which is an outdoor personal-best mark.
•
Juliana Dogostino competed in the high jump as well. She got over the ball at 4-7 for a seventh place finish.
• In the pole vault,
Sean Donnamaria soared to new heights. He jumped a personal-best 13-3.5 and finished in fifth place.
•
Matthew Sutton was the only Lion in the triple jump. He took fourth place overall jumping 42-2.25.
•
Gary Boyd, Jr. was in the top-10 in the men's high jump. He finished ninth clearing 5-9.
Throws
• Friday in the women's hammer throw saw
Chiamaka Wokocha throw a personal-best 149-10 to move to sixth in Lions history. She finished fifth overall in the event. Her day wasn't finished as she also took seventh in the discus throwing 119-8.
• Kaydence Fisher led GCU in the disc. She was fifth overall throwing 123-6. Fisher was also 14th in the hammer throw with her mark of 105-5.
•
Sabrina Halk was 13th in the discus at 95-3.
•
Adrianna Fodera's weekend started Friday with the hammer throw. She placed 10th throwing 124-3. On Saturday she was seventh in the shot put throwing 37-1.
• Leading the Lion women in the shot put was
Sigurlaug Sveinsdottir. She placed fifth throwing 38-4.75.
• Georgian Court took 1-2 in the discus with
Malicah Etienne getting the event win. He threw 165-9.
• Etienne was followed by
Mark Linton in second place. He threw 160-4. Linton was also sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 159-3.
•
Cameren Anderson set two new PR's Friday in the discus. He threw 147-1 which put him at ninth all-time and ninth in the competition. In the hammer, he threw 160-0 which moves him to fourth all-time as he placed fifth overall.
•
Amir Spruell-Everson made the GCU all-time top-10 in the hammer throw. He threw a personal-best 146-10 which puts him 10th in Lions history.
• Saturday saw the shot put and javelin in the throws events. That meant two more throws for Anderson. He was the only Lion to throw the javelin finishing sixth in 164-0. Anderson was also sixth in the shot with his throw of 48-6.75.
• Anderson was only bested in the shot by Etienne. He threw 49-1.75 and finished fifth.
•
Guius Dabney was also in the top-10 of the shot put throwing 45-8.5 for eighth place.
Thomas Menegus took 12th at 38-9.75.
Georgian Court has another two day meet next weekend. They'll venture outside of New Jersey and head to Pennsylvania for the Millersville Metric Friday-Saturday, April 3-4.
